UCSF Staff Research Associate I/II at UCSF Cancer Center at Mt Zion
- Incumbent will conduct research in a lab in the UCSF Cancer Center studying genomic markers of cancer.

Responsibilities:
Perform experimental protocols for high throughput genomic array technology including DNA/RNA isolations, gel electrophoresis, polymerase chain reaction, Taqman assays, probe labeling, hybridizations, image analysis, and analysis of genome and expression microarrays; maintain bacterial and mammalian cell cultures; maintain accurate lab notebooks and records; produce results using computer applications; and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
SRAI: BA/BS with a degree in a related science and basic Molecular Biology lab skills with good microbiological techniques; and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; one two years of research experience in relevant or related field and Microsoft Excel programming; experience with DNA/RNA manipulation, PCR, and sterile techniques; ability to operate standard laboratory equipment; experience with PC and use and Microsoft Excel; ability to keep accurate records, and to be able to work on multiple assignment; able to work with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
SRA II: In addition to the above, BA/BS in molecular biology one or more years of recent, directly related work experience following degree completion, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Note: Classification and salary will depend on the qualifications of the applicant.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with fluorescent in situ hybridization with chromosomes or tissue sections; and familiarity with molecular cloning techniques; experience handling and isolating DNA and RNA and with PCR amplification; experience or familiarity with use of imaging and analysis hardware and software; knowledge of data collection from clinical records.
