UCSF Staff Research Associate I (inner sunset / UCSF)

Job Summary
Incumbent will be responsible for maintaining and managing a molecular biology lab and for performing cell culture, mRNA and protein expression analysis including nucleic acid isolation, regular and real-time PCR and Western blotting analysis. Establish tumor xenograft animal models. Oversee the work and training of students and staff; and perform other duties as assigned. This position offers excellent opportunities for intellectual growth and training in a brand new field of RNAa technologies.
Required Qualifications
BA/BS with a degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry or related science and two or more years of recent, directly related work experience following degree completion, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position and demonstrating technical expertise in these areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; significant experience in tissue culture work; excellent sterile techniques; skill in small animal manipulation, ability to carry out microarray experiments; experience in cell and molecular biology, including flow cytometry, PCR, cloning, sub-cloning, mutagenesis, preparation and manipulation of DNA, quantitation and agarose electrophoresis; experience in protein expression analysis; comfort working with instrumentation and computers; maintenance of accurate notebooks and computer files; team player with good communication and interpersonal skills; willingness to learn, seek out advice and admit errors; highly motivated to succeed.
