Title: Staff Research Associate II

Department: Diabetes Center

Location: Parnassus Avenue

Full Time: 100%

Job Summary:

The Rodent Barrier Technician will participate in the rodent breeding program for the Bluestone Laboratory which produces and maintains unique transgenic and knockout stocks and strains of mice; responsible for maintaining breeding operations and records and interacting and collaborating with research staff; will participate in monitoring rodent populations by PCR, Flow Cytometry, ELISAs, or any additional immunological assays; and will perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

BA/BS in a related science and one or more years of recent, directly related work experience following degree completion, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; one year experience in a science field with immunological research and or islet transplant experience; working scientific knowledge of Cell Culture and Immunology Techniques; ability to work with rodents, proper handling and manipulation; effective use of laboratory instruments and their maintenance; knowledge of biomedical and biotechnological techniques and methodologies; excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to work both independently and as team player; skills and a command of multiple techniques; initiative and independence; ability to interact with all faculty, students and staff who utilize the facility; computer skills in word-processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation, preferably with Microsoft Office Software.

Preferred Skills:

Working knowledge of cGMP processes.
