Senior Scientist (East Bay)

Our Client is a new and dynamic analytical reagent and instrumentation company located here in the East Bay. They currently have an open position for a Senior Scientist in their R&D group.
This individual will be responsible for development and validation of their proprietary reagents and instrument platforms. The candidate must be able to lead a group of Scientists and Associate Scientists through the development of an automated sample preparation system which is currently in development.
Duties will include:
Management of technical staff, experimental design and execution, compiling and
reporting of results in the scientific disciplines of sample preparation and validation, molecular diagnostic assay design and validation, quantitative PCR, and bioanalytical chemistry method development.
Education and Experience
Candidate must have experience transitioning at least one product from research, optimization and development through to the marketplace
Candidate must have experience working with collaborators and customers for product validation
Doctorate in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry with a minimum of 5 years of clinical assay development
Masters in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry with a minimum of 10 years of clinical assay development
Experience with real‐time quantitative PCR, or fluorescence detection methods and instruments.
Experience with microfluidic devices and analytical instruments highly desired.
Experience with Microsoft Visual Basic, Perl, LabView, or C programming languages highly desired.
Skills/Knowledge Required
Strong background in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Knowledge of FDA, MDD, IEC, and ISO regulations and guidelines helpful.
Good MS Office skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Strong problem solving skills and detail orientation.
Willingness to learn and quickly master new techniques.
