Senior Research Assoc. II (UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center)

Assist Investigators in researching causes for cancer by performing a wide variety of analysis on nucleic acid samples in the Comprehensive Cancer Center Genome Core. Candidates must have meticulous laboratory bench skills and should be familiar with PCR, Taqman QPCR, and probe and primer design for these assays. The Core also offers genotyping, epigenetic analysis, and expression analysis services to cancer researchers on a state-of-the-art Sequenom mass spec system as well as whole genome copy number analysis using human BAC DNA microarrays developed at the Center. Familiarity with mass spec systems, DNA microarrays, microsoft Excel and Excel macros, and the proven ability to quickly learn software analysis programs is a plus. The Core assists dozens of Investigators every week and has contributed to over 20 publications on cancer in the last 18 months. Successful candidates will have the ability to handle multiple tasks at once in a fast paced and time sensitive environment, as well as have excellent written and oral communication skills. A Bachelor’s degree in biology or related science and one year or more of laboratory experience is required.
