Join a team focused on investigating the immunological mechanisms underlying the development of diabetic heart disease through analysis of transgenic mouse models and human patients. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual interested in using cutting edge techniques in translational research that will make an immediate impact on patient care.
The Senior Research Assistant assists in experiments involving cellular immunology techniques, molecular biology and biochemical approaches, and in vivo experimentation.
Responsibilities include:
1. Assists in experiments involving cellular immunology techniques (e.g. multi-color flow cytometry, T cell proliferation and ELISPOT assays), molecular biology and biochemical approaches (e.g. RT-PCR, TacMan PCR assays and Western blotting) and in vivo experimentation using mouse models.
2. Records, analyzes, and interprets research data.
3. Assists in clinical studies at Brigham and Womens Hospital and Joslin.
4. Participates in Research seminars (journal, data club)
5. Assists in the day to day management of the laboratory. Orders supplies, maintains inventory, and assists in equipment purchase and maintenance.
Qualifications include:
Masters in Biology (would consider a Bachelors in Biology with significant experience)
2 years of post-graduate, hands on experience in an immunology laboratory
Strong background in immunology
Previous small animal experience
Ability to work both independently and as part on an interdisciplinary team
Strong organizational skills
Keen attention to detail
High level of interest and motivation
