SENIOR SCIENTIST/SCIENTIST
ProGenTech Limited, a molecular diagnostics company committed to developing next generation instrumentation for nucleic acid and protein purification and molecular diagnostic testing, seeks a senior scientist/scientist to be a part of the companys ongoing molecular diagnostic program. The candidate must have assay development and systems integration experience. The position is based in Emeryville, California and will be moving to Hayward, California in 2010 with work also performed in Campbell, California. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development of products from concept to commercialization. ProGenTech Limited provides competitive salary and a full range of benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Designs, plans and executes assigned research and/or development-related experiments/projects utilizing established and innovative procedures.
Applies scientific knowledge and accumulated experience to complete projects.
Works with project manager and other team members such as engineering groups to plan, execute and deliver experimental results and solutions on schedule.
Preparation of design history file documentation of development and verification activities .
Serves as a resource to other departments (e.g., Manufacturing/Operations, Quality, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs), provides timely response and follow-ups.
Serves as an internal source of scientific expertise regarding assay development and system integration.
Manages and analyzes experimental data; presents experimental results at internal meetings and scientific conferences.
Able to work and think independently with general goals and targets from managing supervisor.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
MS or PhD in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry or related discipline.
MS with 8+ years experience.
PhD with 5+ years experience.
Experience in a commercial setting that involved bringing a product to market.
5-10+ years research or experience in the area of assay development and systems integration.
Molecular Biology applications such as real-time PCR, reverse transcription, nucleic acid isolation, primer design, and related procedures.
Effective interpersonal skills to work in a multidisciplinary team consisting of engineers, chemists, and molecular biologists.
Strong organizational, analytical and record-keeping skills.
Significant data analysis abilities including graphing and presentation skills.
Experience with systems integration involving platforms and assays.
Working knowledge of bioanalytical techniques and GLP. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven experimental skills with an affinity for and a comfort level with quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Experience in delivering products to a cGMP regulated market, including development through the verification and validation process, premarket testing, transfer of product specifications and regulatory compliance.
Experience in an ISO 13485, ISO 9001:2000 and FDA Regulated industry preferred.
Experience in a start-up environment is a plus.
