Location: Simches Research Building, 185 Cambridge St, Boston – MA

FT/PT: Full Time Position

RESEARCH TECHNICIAN, for genetic and biochemical studies on the nematode C. elegans. The position is offered by the laboratory of Prof. Gary Ruvkun, located at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and affiliated with the Harvard Medical School and the Broad Institute. The lab’s efforts focus on the biology of small RNAs, metabolism, and aging. The primary responsibilities will be the participation in individual research projects, such as genetic and RNAi screens for animals defective in metabolic, aging, or small RNA pathways. In addition, there will be biochemical studies (e.g. construction of fusion genes, generation of transgenic animals, proteomics, deep sequencing).

We seek an enthusiastic, well-organized individual interested in an opportunity to learn a broad spectrum of cutting-edge methodology and eager to contribute to the scientific advancements of our team. The position is fully funded and allows for a long-term appointment.

REQUIREMENTS: B.S. or M.S. in a field related to Biology or Biochemistry and with practical experience in one or more of the following areas: genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology. Experience with basic lab techniques (PCR, DNA gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, western blotting) is desirable. This position requires either U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
