Research Technician (Longwood Medical)

Research technician to support research efforts at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Harvard Institute of Medicine studying tumor cell metastasis and the homing behavior of white blood cells. Candidates will be expected to oversee the development of genetically modified mice and manage all animal experimentation/breeding. Responsibilities include breeding, genotyping and keeping records of mouse strains, injection of mice, blood drawing from mice, preparationo of cells for flow cytometry from various mouse organs after euthansia, preparing DNA and RNA for PCR analysis.
Other duties include administrative oversight of supply ordering and of laboratory compliance issues related to health and safety.
A background in the performance of biochemical analyses, including flow cytometry, cell adhesion assays, plasmid construction/transfection/ RT-PCR and/or western blotting is desired. Qualifications include a BA/BS degree and excellent communications/written skills.
