RESEARCH TECHNICIAN II (Mass General Hospital)

Full-time research technician position at Massachusetts General Hospital in the Center for Human Genetic Research, to study the genetics and biology of autism and neurodegenerative disease. This work involves molecular biology techniques (cloning, Western blotting, PCR), cell biology techniques (neuronal cell culture, stem cell culture, differentiation of stem cells, immunocytochemistry), and microscopy (epi-fluourescence and confocal microscopy).
Candidates should be highly motivated with an interest in neurobiology, molecular biology, stem cell biology, and confocal microscopy. Requirements include an undergraduate degree in Biology or related field, and previous experience (2+ years) in confocal microscopy and molecular biology. Previous experience in a neuroscience-related field, performing cell culture (stem and/or neuronal cell culture) is preferred. Laboratory responsibilities will include performing molecular biology research, establishing, maintaining and characterizing induced pluripotent stem cell lines, and conducting imaging studies using a confocal microscope. Administrative responsibilities will include daily oversight and new user training of a shared confocal microscopy resource.
