Seeking a full-time Research Laboratory Technician in the new Translational Research/Molecular Pathology Laboratory at the MGH Cancer Center. This entry-level position provides clinical trial and translational research support through the genotyping of patient tumor samples to direct cancer treatment. Responsibilities include the following:

- Coordinate, conduct and optimize experiments that employ sequencing technologies, DNA and RNA extractions, standard and quantitative PCR, fluorescence in situ hybridization, microscopy, cell culture maintenance and novel diagnostics including DNA microarrays.

- Identify and pull patient samples from the Pathology Department and private investigators.

- Complete all records associated with samples and analysis in an orderly and timely fashion.

- Other duties as required.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in a related life science.

- Some relevant molecular or cellular biology experience in a research laboratory, beyond standard course-related laboratory work.

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products and FileMaker Pro is desirable.

- A successful candidate will be highly self-motivated, have great interpersonal and communication skills, pay close attention to detail and maintain accurate/detailed records.

- A two year commitment is requested.
