Research Associate – Inflammatory Disease (Kendall Square, Cambridge)

Cequent Pharmaceuticals is an early-stage biopharmaceutical company pioneering the development of novel therapeutics to prevent and treat a wide range of human diseases – from inflammatory diseases to cancer – based on the company’s proprietary technology, TransKingdom RNA interference (tkRNAi). Cequent’s first products, now in pre-clinical development, are drug candidates targeting colon cancer prevention and inflammatory bowel disease.
Cequent has an immediate opening for a Research Associate in our Inflammatory Disease Group.
Responsibilities:
Conduct experiments and other tasks as assigned in the Research and Development activities of Cequents Inflammatory Disease group
Design and execute experiments independently in order to meet timelines and reach goals
Present data in team and department meetings
Use of a wide range of molecular cell biology techniques (DNA-, RNA-prep, PCR, real-time PCR, protein isolation and analysis, gel electrophoresis, Western blot, cloning, ELISA and mammalian cell culture and transfection)
Interface with members of other teams in a matrix working environment
We are looking for a self-motivated, highly organized person with a demonstrated ability to keep and maintain detailed records; you should also have good interpersonal skills and be a willing team-player.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate will have a BS, or MS; 1-2 years relevant wet laboratory experience in academic or industry; mammalian cell culture and basic bacteriology skills. Experience with RNA and RNAi techniques a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills and facility with Microsoft Word, Excel and the Windows environment is required. We are looking for an individual who can function well in a fast-paced and team-oriented R&D environment.
