Additional Responsibilities:
Assess the effects of 2D and 3D culture conditions on parameters of normal HMEC growth, differentiation, and senescence
Maintain and become familiar with a wide variety of finite and transformed HMEC cultures
Maintain and perform data entry of records pertaining to HMEC cultures and usage
Perform common assays involving biological and molecular characterization of HMEC, e.g., flow sorting (FACS), immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, western, northern, and southern blotting, and quantitative-RT-PCR amplifications
Perform analysis for detection of mycoplasm contamination in cell cultures
Provide protocol details for experiments designed by principal investigator
Prepare media, buffers, and reagents
Generate data for investigator’s use in preparation of technical reports and publications
Qualifications:
B.S. degree in a related field and/or at least 2 years of hands-on experience
Ability to discern differences between cell cultures subjected to different treatments
Ability to successfully cultivate HMEC cultures
Hands-on experience in many of the following molecular biology techniques/assays: gel electrophoresis, western, southern, and northern blotting, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, PCR, RT-PCR, and flow cytometry
