Research Associate-Assay Development-RT-PCR (Cambridge)
By | October 29, 2008
Position Overview:
Peptimmune, a biotechnology company located in Cambridge and developing therapeutics for the treatment of autoimmune and infectious diseases, has an opening for an energetic individual to support our pharmacology/immunology group. The primary responsibilities for the Research Associate position will include developing RT-PCR assays for monitoring human and animal cytokine/chemokine immune responses to peptide therapeutics. In addition, the individual will assist in conducting the in vitro part of pK and ELISA assays. Basic tissue culture skills, including isolation of PBMC and generating primary organ cultures, would be helpful but are not essential. This position will contribute to the further characterization of therapeutics currently in clinical development as well as the development of compounds currently being evaluated in pre-clinical studies.
Required Experience:
The successful candidate should have a B.S. or M.S. in Cell Biology, or a related scientific discipline with 2-5 years of relevant hands-on laboratory experience.
Experience with all aspects of evaluating biological responses by RT-PCR is required. This should include selection of primers, generation of RNA and cDNA as well as interpretation of results.
A working understanding of ELISA assays including the presentation and interpretation of results is important.
Tissue culture experience including cell lines as well as primary cell cultures will be a plus.
