Research Associate 3, Molecular Immunogenetics (milpitas)

Medarex Inc. is looking for a Temp to Hire Research Associate 3 that will work in their Animal Biology group supporting the development, characterization and application of genetically modified murine models for production of human antibodies. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Genotyping and analysis of genetically modified murine models to facilitate internal drug development.
- Perform genotyping assays by PCR analysis with either a gel-based, or Real Time PCR format.
- Develop and implement new genotyping assays by Real Time PCR.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to define, develop, test and validate primer and probe sets as well as implementing new probe design or amplification strategies.
- Depending on experience and available resources, may also have the opportunity to participate in pre-clinical in vitro studies to support drug development studies.
Required Skills/Experience:
Required skills/Experience includes, but is not limited to:
- General knowledge of the principles of molecular and cellular biology.
- Practical experience with techniques such as Real Time PCR, cloning, primer and probe design, electrophoretic methods, and DNA sequencing.
- Experience with mammalian tissue culture is highly desirable and experience with imaging applications would be a plus.
- Experience working with liquid handling machines for automation of routine laboratory protocols.
- Ability to interact effectively with scientists from different departments and at different levels within the company.
- Must be customer focused, team oriented, and self-motivated.
- BS or MS degree in the Biological Sciences with a minimum of 5 years working experience.
- Must have experience working in a setting of developing and running molecular biology assays.
