Research Associate 2/3, Transgenic Modeling (milpitas)

Medarex Inc. is looking for a Research Associate 2/3 that will support the Transgenic Modeling group within the Animal Biology Research Department. Primary responsibilities will include providing technical and administrative lab support to the team developing new transgenic strains by assisting in the genotyping and phenotypic analysis of the large number of transgenic strains recently generated.
Main Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Molecular Biology:
- DNA purification from various organisms (mouse tail samples, E.Coli)
- PCR analysis for genotyping purposes
- RNA and cDNA preparation and analysis
- General recombinant DNA cloning, PCR and sequence analysis
- Cellular Immunology
- Basic cell culture techniques
- Familiar with basic FACS staining techniques
- Experience with simple ELSA techniques
- Documentation
- Highly organized and detailed documentation of all essential procedures, activities and results in lab notebooks and databases
- Use computers/programs for data acquisition, analysis and presentation
- Data entry for microinjection record keeping and analysis.
- Communication
- Interact well with project teams to communicate data
- Oral and written communication of results to Medarex personnel in informal presentations
- Strategy
- Identify and troubleshoot simple procedures using critical thinking
- Present ideas and assist in formulating strategies for project progression
