Research Associate

BioPhase Solutions specializes in recruiting top talented professionals for San Diego’s Scientific community. We are currently looking for a Research Associate to work for a leading San Diego biotechnology company.

Research Associate

The Research Associate will bring state of the art molecular biology/protein engineering skills to support further development of our proprietary technology and discovery efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

These include, but are not limited to:

-Design, construction and analysis of plasmids and gene libraries for directed evolution methods applied towards therapeutic monoclonal antibodies.

-Generate and optimize gene sequences for expression in bacterial, insect and mammalian expression systems.

-Carry out small and medium scale cell cultures for protein expression using transient and stable cell systems.

-Monitor new developments in relevant techniques and implement best practices, including training other team members.

-Analyze results of the data and prepare recommendations in which to proceed with the data.

-Prepare and maintain laboratory notebooks and/or computer files.

-Participate in project meetings and provide feedback on experimental work completed.

-Comply with established company policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety and environmental standards.

-Perform other duties as may be assigned.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

-Present project findings to internal and/or external groups.

-Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

The Research Associate will be a knowledgeable individual with a minimum of six plus years of related experience and proven success in a fast paced laboratory environment plus:

-Extensive molecular biology experience including plasmid design, PCR, mutatgenesis and current cloning techniques for single and combinatorial inserts.

-Understanding of expression vectors, oligonucleotide design and DNA sequence analysis is important.

-Antibody development and/or phage display experience is a plus.

-Recent experience with a smaller entrepreneurial environment is a definite asset.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Science degree in appropriate discipline with biotechnology and/or drug experience. Master of Science preferred.
