We are expanding our molecular diagnostic testing group and are in immediate need of a Development Scientist to join the assay development team.
The position is responsible for the design and development of diagnostic assays for detection of infectious and oncology disease targets. The position will involve development and testing of sample preparation, amplification, and detection chemistry and technologies. The individual will work with an integrated team of molecular biologists, hardware, software, and manufacturing engineers to test and develop assays on a new diagnostics platform.
Duties
Development of robust sample preparation protocols from a wide range of biological sample types.
Optimization of real time reverse transcriptase and/or PCR assays
Testing and optimization of existing and novel detection chemistry.
Integration of the designed assay system with sample preparation, amplification and detection instrumentation.
Position Requirements:
M.S. with 2+ years or a B.S. with 5+ years experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, genetics or related field. Industry experience preferred.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Expertise in the following areas is considered a plus: assay development, real time PCR, microbiology, virology, cell culture, nucleic acid extraction, fluorescent chemistry, nucleotide chemistry.
Ability to problem solve is a must.
