Development Assistant (menlo park)

POSITION: Development Assistant
STATUS: Part-time 24 hours a week
HOURS: Flexible
Requires some evening and weekend hours
REPORTS TO: Director of Development
BENEFITS: No benefits
The Development Assistant is responsible for the daily support of the Development Office and assists with the management of all fundraising and communication programs. The Development Assistant works closely with the Director of Development, primarily responsible for database management, mail merge, and spreadsheets.
Computer Skills
Proficient computer skills including:
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
Experience working with database software and/or fund development or fundraising software, PCR preferred.
Newsletter or publishing software.
Ability and willingness to learn new software as needed.

BA or BS degree.
Minimum of 3 years work experience.
Understanding of adolescent behavior and desire to work in a private school community.
Interest in a career in fundraising, non-profit management, or school administration.
Responsibilities
Development Office:
Manage fund development database – data entry, mail merges, spreadsheets, and reports.
Manage donations – gift processing and acknowledgement.
Prepare reports and analyses charts, graphs.
Prepare and update forms, documents, and spreadsheets.
Oversee large mailings and work closely with the Front Office clerical staff.
Work with Business Office to reconcile donations and income reports.
Manage donor files and confidential records.
Write general correspondence including solicitations and thank you letters.
Coordinate meetings and special events (invitations, catering, RSVPs, budget).
Research prospects and potential donors (individuals, corporations and foundations).
Represent Mid-Pen at community events and provide school tours.
Communications:
Write and edit newsletters.
Prepare flyers and promotion materials.
Coordinate print production and work with graphic artists and printers.
