Cell Culture Process Development Associate/Engineer II

Position: Cell Culture Process Development Associate or Engineer II November 2009
(Area: Manufacturing Process Development)
Tocagen is seeking a candidate with at least 2-3 years of process development experience in the area of cell culture/fermentation. Preferred candidate will have demonstrated independent capability to run and control bioreactor based processes (stirred-tank, Wave). Candidate should have experience with both suspension and attachment dependent mammalian cell cultures. The candidate should also have hands-on experience on bioassays following a cell culture/fermentation process, typically ELISA, gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE, agarose gel), PCR techniques and Western Blot analysis.
Major responsibilities include:
1. Assist the development of Tocagens viral vector manufacturing process
2. Under technical direction from a Development Scientist, optimize bioreactor production process
3. Under technical supervision, acquire, set up, and maintain equipment
4. Provide downstream purification assistance with development and characterization on an as needed basis
5. Write report, document experimental procedures and results, and present data to other internal R&D personnel.
6. Comply with policies and procedures to meet company departmental and individual goals.
7. Under technical direction of a Development Scientist, perform other duties as required
Experience and Qualifications :
BS/MS or equivalent in Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or related biological discipline. A minimum of 2- 3 years relevant experience. Candidates with previous experience under a cGMP environment preferred.
Salary: Negotiable according to experience and fit; package includes company stock options.
