Cardiovascular Scientist

The successful candidate will have a MS or Ph.D. and have experience in Physiology, Pharmacology, Biomedical Engineering or related field and have 2+ years of relevant experience in the area of biochemistry and cell biology. The candidate must be an independent worker who can work on several projects simultaneously with minimal direction. The candidate should also have solid interpersonal, organizational and communication skills to be able to speak to clients.

Individual should be able to do calcium imaging (IONOPTIX SYSTEM), isolated myocyte studies, multicellular calcium imaging with AEQUORIN, and operate the fluorescent microscope.

Responsibilities will also include speaking to clients and presenting at national meetings as well as participating in the submission of grants.

Duties include the following:

• Perform laboratory experiments, organize, summarize and process data.

• Report experimental results, utilizing scientific, statistical, word processing and/or other software applications.

• Assist in the design of laboratory experiments and execution of new experimental techniques. Although the candidate is not expected to develop new procedures, she/he should be able to perform basic troubleshooting.

• Perform related laboratory maintenance such as maintaining and cleaning equipment, ordering supplies, updating databases and inventory.

Other responsibilities:

Perform laboratory research, including mammalian cell culture, bacterial culture, DNA/RNA isolation, ELISA, SDS-PAGE electrophoresis, Western Blots, PCR, and protein expression. The candidate will also be responsible for preparation of cell culture media and relevant buffers, and general laboratory maintenance.
