The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Western Regional Research Center, Albany, California, invites applications for a Biological Science Laboratory Technician (Molecular Biology) position GS-5/6/7 ($34,808.00-$56,047.00 per annum). A technician is needed to perfom routine experiments and techniques involving the study of bacterial human pathogens (e.g. Salmonella, Listeria, Campylobacter) and interactions with produce. These duties include: media preparation, aseptic technique, microbiological dilution plating, plant-growth, ELISA, microscopy, and basic molecular genetic techniques such as preparation of DNA or RNA, DNA cloning, PCR and RT-PCR, and DNA sequencing. This is a competitive, term appointment and U.S. citizenship is required.
