Bioinformatics Software Developer (Cambridge)

We are a leading molecular diagnostics company that has developed the first intelligent bioinformatics software designed specifically to bridge the gap between diagnosis and treatment. Our intelligent systems approach to developing molecular diagnostic and therapeutic tests enables a rapid, precise and cost-effective determination of the cause of a patientÂ’s symptoms and conveys this information to the clinician.
We are seeking an experienced Software Developer who has successfully contributed to all aspects of the software product lifecycle. In this key and challenging position, you will be developing sophisticated bioinformatics software to support the work of our scientists. You may also be collaborating with external molecular biologists as well as our business development and R&D teams as we lead a new approach to nucleic acid based diagnostics.
Responsibilities:
- Enhance our proprietary software for designing nucleic diagnostics, including definition, design, implementation, testing, documentation and maintenance.
- Design novel software and structure relational databases that advance our diagnostic testing capabilities.
- Collaborate with senior scientific and software team members in producing quality software code as per required FDA regulations.
- Stay current with advances in the field that can be leveraged to ensure that our vision and capabilities remain cutting-edge.
Requirements:
- BS degree plus 3+ years experience with bioinformatics software development.
- Strong programming background, to include experience with Perl, Java, C, HTML, XML, CGI, JDBC, mySQL and Linux OS.
- Working knowledge of genomic databases, such as Genbank, UniGene, Ensemble, Entrez.
- Self-directed, motivated, resourceful and innovative, with excellent written & oral communications, and ability to keep technical documentation up-to-date and informative.
- Background knowledge of molecular biology, including fundamentals of PCR, genomics is a plus.
