Associate Scientist positions (Morrisville, NC)

A position responsible for performing a broad spectrum of cGMP and GLP-compliant standard and custom molecular biology (including cloning, PCR, sequencing and quantitative PCR), biosafety, virology and microbiology testing services in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This position will assist management/supervisor with planning and scheduling of resources, track projects, and perform data review and QC. The scientist will also participate in continuous process improvement initiatives and assist management improve the overall performance of Operations without affecting “quality” and “value.”

Responsibilities include:

• Execute strategies to detect the integration (copy number) or expression of the vector construct in germ lone, persistence of the vector in both targeted and non-targeted tissues in accordance with approved SOPs.

• Execute strategies to detect and quantify DNA or RNA viruses in cell banks and residual cell DNA in bulk product in accordance with approved SOPs.

• Prepare all necessary reagents/media, and ensure that all necessary equipment are maintained and repaired in accordance with approved SOPs.

• Assist supervisor/manager prioritize and schedule projects to complete them on time with high quality

• Assist supervisor/manager trouble shoot, and resolve all issues (technical-, customer- and project-related) in a timely manner with “extreme customer focus.”

• Assist supervisor/manager receive, store and ship samples according to specifications, and maintain and dispose biohazard samples.

• Assist management implement programs to continuously monitor, assess and improve the performance of assays.

• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• BS in Biological Sciences or Life sciences with 2-4 years experience in advanced molecular biology and/or biologic safety testing.

• Prior experience with cloning, cell line transformation, sequencing, southern/northern blotting, quantitative PCR (ABI7900HT), and biodistribution studies is a plus.

• Experience in a GLP, GMP or CLIA environment is desirable
