Expertise in oncology with focus on solid tumors, disease understanding to support drug discovery and translational oncology research.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this position will be to provide scientific and strategic support in oncology research and to organize and manage project progression for small molecules and or/biologicals in pre-clinical development (or lead discovery)
The candidate will be expected to plan, run, and present studies for multiple projects and assist project leaders in developing scientific and technical strategies in a matrix environment
Other primary tasks include the development and implementation of phenotypic assays in tumor cells for mechanism of action studies, indication pin pointing studies to support clinical stratification plans, as well as performing assays to address drug combinations, with the overall goal of supporting discovery and pre-clinical development of lead molecules
The candidate will also be expected to participate in the design and implementation of studies for the identification of biomarkers
The candidate should provide expertise and knowledge in the area of cancer signaling and solid tumor cell biology
Education & Languages
PhD with 2-4 years related industry/research experience preferred.
Must be fluent in both written and spoken English.

Knowledge of signaling networks involved in cancer
Expertise in phenotypic and mechanistic cell-based assays in solid tumor models: proliferation (monolayer and soft agar) and apoptosis assays, cell cycle profiling

Contribute to the development of a novel medical instrument for use in molecular diagnostics. Develop and validate computational models for the quantification of DNA using PCR and capillary electrophoresis. Develop algorithms and user interfaces for the analysis and visualization of electropherograms and PCR amplification data. Employ models of DNA thermodynamics in the design of assays to optimize the reaction chemistry. Utilize high performance computing techniques to accelerate algorithms.
Perform statistical analysis of experimental results to characterize artifacts and provide feedback on the design of the instrument and assays. Consult on statistical analysis of clinical data. Work closely with the assay development team to ensure that statistical best practices are used in the design and analysis of experiments.
Qualifications
MS or Ph.D in computational biology/chemistry, bioinformatics, statistics, mathematics, or physics
5+ years software development experience
3+ years of Java software development, including data visualization interfaces
5+ years experience in scientific or medical data analysis for experimental assays
Excellent cross-disciplinary communication skills

A research fellow position is available at the Massachusetts General Hospital in the area of stem cell biology and developmental biology of the skin. Focus of our research is to understand molecular mechanisms underlying formation of stem cells in skin development.
